Competitive/Spring Season

Players with birthdates between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2019 are able to join this league.

It is suggested that players have played at least one year of recreational soccer, have an understanding of the game, and a competitive drive.

Season begins in March with indoor practices. Depending on tournaments the teams select, the season will end at some point in June.

Practices are held approximately twice per week based on field/indoor space availability. These practices can occur at local area school gyms, outdoor fields and/or turf in Esko and Cloquet.

Player should want to attend practice / games on their own accord with a positive attitude and respect for coaches.

Recommended attendance at practices is 75% minimum.

Recommended attendance at games and tournaments is 90% minimum.

Players must commit to their team to ensure appropriate roster sizes for all tournaments.

Teams will have the opportunity to play in local tournaments as well as tournaments outside of our area, requiring 1-2 night hotel stays and other travel-related expenses. 

Depending on age level, teams are guaranteed 3-4 tournaments. Anything beyond that will be the financial responsibility of the team and players. More details regarding specific tournaments for each team will be shared at a later date.

Mark Your Calendars! : All CEC FC teams will participate in the CEC FC Summer Kick-Off Tournament June 12-13

Teams will be formed based on a variety of factors, including past coach feedback (fall and spring), game knowledge, soccer skills, attitude, and overall fit for the team.

Team rosters will be shared with players and families no later than January 1, 2027.

Each family is expected to offer at least 4 volunteer hours per season. A $100 check per player (family max $200) will be collected by team managers at initial parent meeting and will be held until volunteer hours have been fulfilled. Checks remaining will be cashed in July.

Families will have the option during registration to opt out of the required volunteer hours and pay the $100 per player upfront.

Ways to Volunteer

• Serve on the Board of Directors or specialized committees.
• Coach or assistant coach youth teams.
• Assist with field setup, lining, teardown, and maintenance.
• Serve as a team manager to manage team logistics
• Contribute time in concessions or at events

Both the Tryouts and the Kickaround will take place on Sunday, October 25th. Time slots for each age group will be shared no later than October 10th.

For both Tryouts and the Kickaround, there is a $15 non-refundable registration fee that is collected for equipment and to compensate our evaluators. This fee will be collected during registration for the season.

All U12-U18 players, including those currently playing on CEC JV or V, who intend to play CEC FC Competitive Soccer in Spring 2027 must register and attend tryouts. Attendance is required for all U12-U18 players, as that data will be used to help CEC FC form competitive teams.

An additional Tryout date, which will include current CEC JV and V players, will be scheduled for November, date TBD.

All players NOT on JV or V should plan to attend on October 25.
